Right on Arbroath harbour, this is an old building with proper character to it — stone, warmth, a lounge bar that people settle into rather than rush through. The smokies are the reason to come: served straight, or in a crepe that regulars go back for, alongside haddock and chips and a fisherman's catch of seafood, salad and coleslaw. Pricing is fair for what arrives. Seating is comfortable and roomy enough for a pram, there's a kids' menu and high chairs, vegan options, outdoor tables and free parking, which takes the sting out of a harbour visit. Staff stay friendly even when they're clearly run off their feet, and dogs get a genuine welcome — water and treats without asking. It does get busy, so book at weekends.
