A wooden cottage of a pub tucked into Spinningfields, with a tipi, a garden and lots of separate corners to sit in — which is exactly what you want when you've got a buggy to park and a toddler who won't sit still. There's a kids' menu, high chairs and step-free access, and daytime is when it works: sunny afternoons outside with live music on, or the winter setup, which is properly warm and cosy. The kebabs are the thing to order — the garlic oil that comes with the lamb and chicken gets rave mentions — and the vegan mushroom pie is a genuinely good one, gravy generously topped up. Two honest caveats: it's very busy, and drinks are city-centre pricey at around £7.50 a pint. Table service by QR code is fast, which helps enormously when someone's melting down.
