Tucked down a side street in Alnwick, this is the kind of café you almost walk past and then never stop recommending. It's calm and cosy rather than cramped — buggy access is fine, there are high chairs and outdoor seating, and there's a small children's play area that keeps toddlers happily occupied while you actually finish a coffee. The scones are the thing: cheese and bacon, plain cheese, fruit, all freshly baked, alongside soup, Bakewell and generous slices of homemade cake. Food comes out fast, which matters at the wrong end of a morning. Upstairs the baby-change area is genuinely lovely — closer to a pamper room than a shelf in a toilet. Free parking, dogs welcome, and a little boutique of clothing and candles attached. One parent called the coffee slightly milky; nobody minded much.
