Newcastle's pan-Asian small-plates spot is a proper night out that happens to welcome children — dark, handsome decor, music pitched low enough to talk over, and staff who genuinely notice things (a dropped jacket picked up, a draughty seat swapped without being asked). Buggy access, high chairs, a kids' menu and vegan options are all in place, plus outdoor seating for warmer days. The prawn tempura and squid come out perfectly fried, the noodles get raved about, and the weekday lunch bento at around £14 is unusually good value for the quality. Walk-ins have been squeezed in on busy nights without being rushed, though booking is safer at weekends. Not everything lands — the bulgogi pork belly has been criticised as tough, and dim sum can vary. One parent found the staff "couldn't do enough".
