A stone village pub just outside Banbury with a car park absolutely festooned with hanging baskets and planters — worth the drive alone if you've got a child who likes pointing at flowers. Round the back there's a small garden with eight or ten tables, a proper sun trap, though parasols mean you're not roasting. Buggy access is fine and parking is free, which takes two decisions off your plate before you've even sat down. Inside there's plenty of table-service seating, high chairs and a kids' menu. Food is the real draw: haddock fish cakes, the pie of the day with big chunks of chicken and ham in creamy sauce, a beef Sunday roast, and portions one family described as full but not stuffed. Staff are attentive and unhurried — a party of eighteen was served fast enough to eat together. Drink range is thin on draught ale.
