Gastropub · Maidstone
A big, easygoing pub on the edge of Maidstone with room to spread out — front and back gardens, a marquee and tipi area, and a car park that doesn't fill up, so you can get a pram out of the boot without doing gymnastics. Inside it's cosy rather than cavernous, with warm lighting and proper chairs, and high chairs and a kids' menu are on hand. The Sunday roast is the thing to come for: enormous plates with every trimming, and the duck croquettes are worth a starter. Burgers arrive with a mountain of chips, and there are vegan options too. Staff are genuinely warm and quick with families. It fills right up by mid-afternoon, especially Sundays, so book — one parent describes being made "really welcome" from the door.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
