Tucked away past the boat yard with views over the Plym, this is the kind of find you'd never stumble on by accident — one visitor was only shown it by their daughter. Breakfast is the main event: the Mess breakfast, generous fry-ups, good paninis and Belgian waffles that genuinely taste like Belgium. Staff are friendly and quick to accommodate — one coeliac visitor was talked through the whole menu and brought gluten-free wholemeal toast without fuss, and protein-only requests get sorted cheerfully. Free parking is plentiful, there are high chairs, a kids' menu and outdoor seating, and buggies get in fine. Two things to know: indoor tables are mostly large ones, so a party of two or three can feel adrift, and the kitchen has off days — burnt or undercooked items and slow drinks turn up in the more recent accounts.
