The Southern Belle
A moderately busy Hove pub with a kids' menu, high chairs, step-free buggy access and gluten-free choices.

Right on the seafront, this is a much bigger, more comfortable room than the name suggests, with plenty of indoor space plus outdoor tables looking straight out at the sea — easy to get a buggy in and park it without blocking anyone, and there are high chairs and a kids' menu. Portions are genuinely generous, which helps when children are sharing: the mezes, the falafel wrap and the full English all get praised, and Turkish eggs are a standout at breakfast. Staff are friendly and quick, and the whole mood stays relaxed rather than fussy. Vegan choices are easy to find, and dogs are welcome too. Not everything lands — a few people have found service slow at busy times and the odd dish overcooked — but for ££ with that view, families keep coming back.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
