Gas Street Social
Industrial-style Mailbox bar with cocktails, sharing plates and outdoor seating — a relaxed spot for families out and about.

Mexican · Birmingham
Big, handsome room in the middle of Birmingham — high ceilings, bold artwork, proper Mexican cooking — and roomy enough that a pram isn't a problem, with high chairs on hand and a kids' menu. Weekday afternoons can be genuinely quiet, which is a gift if your two are having an off day; evenings bring music and a livelier buzz. The steak gets the most praise (cooked properly, good quality meat), alongside tacos, empanadas and churros, and there are vegan options. The Sunday platter is good value. Staff are patient and check back often — one family called their host "attentive and very patient". The bathrooms are grand and spotless, which makes changing a nappy less grim than usual. It leans a bit smart, so it's more special-occasion than everyday.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
