Villa Vinci
Busy but roomy Italian with free parking, brilliant pizza and a team that feeds you fast when children won't wait.

Irish · Castlewellan
Tucked away off the beaten track, this old country pub has the kind of cosy, low-lit warmth that keeps small children calm — plenty to look at on the walls while you wait, and the wait isn't long, because service here is quick and the staff are attentive without hovering. Portions are enormous: a seafood chowder that "didn't seem to end", huge meaty burgers, tender roast lamb, steak with peppercorn cream sauce and champ, and onion rings of legendary size. The kids' menu is a main plus dessert for around £9.95, which is genuinely good value. High chairs, buggy access, free parking and outdoor seating all sorted. Two honest notes: it's popular enough that you should book to avoid disappointment, and one family warned the portions left "no room for pudding" — plan accordingly.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
