Restaurant · Lymington
A former art deco building right by the pebble beaches, this is the sort of place families come back to year after year — several treat it as an annual holiday ritual. It's bright and airy inside, with floor-to-ceiling windows that make it a good bet on a windy day when the outdoor tables aren't tempting. Portions are big and good value, which is partly why it gets busy: book at peak times and through summer, though a late lunch can walk in. Staff are quick, warm and genuinely good with children — one family singled out the team for the kids' own glowing verdict. There's a kids' menu with a word search, high chairs, buggy access and free parking outside. The seafood platter and fish tacos draw praise, and the vegan options are unusually thought-through, right down to vegan tartare sauce. One diner found the fish and chips bland at £19.50, so it's not infallible.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
