A family of six turned up last minute and still got a table here, which tells you something about how the team handles a crowd — and the food came out fast enough that nobody hit meltdown. Portions are generous to the point of leftovers (one family took pizza home and it reheated fine the next day), and the shared garlic bread with cheese is famously enormous. The lamb shank with mash and three veg and the steaks get the loudest praise. Free parking, high chairs, a kids' menu, buggy access and outdoor seating with fishing lakes out front make the whole visit easy with little ones. It's not cheap — a holiday treat rather than a weekly thing — and it gets busy on Sunday afternoons, so book ahead.
