About The Kilpin Beer Cafe

Down an alleyway you'd walk past without noticing, this one rewards the detour — and it's roomier than the entrance suggests. Upstairs is the spot with children: cosy corners plus a light, airy area under skylights, so a pram and a restless four-year-old aren't wedged into anyone's elbow. Buggy access, high chairs, a kids' menu and outdoor seating cover the basics. Sunday roasts are the draw — beef served pink, two kinds of potato, a giant Yorkshire, and a different gravy with each main — though a few families find plates arrive less than piping hot. Weekday afternoons the kitchen keeps going when much of Nottingham has stopped, and food comes out fast. Staff are unfailingly good at squeezing people in. Prices sit at the upper end, and Sunday genuinely needs booking.
