High chairs, a kids' menu and free parking take the faff out of arriving, and there's a garden for when someone needs to burn off energy between courses. The kitchen has a Bib Gourmand and it shows: generous Sunday roasts with their own gravy boat and a huge side of veg, a rich ox cheek pie, excellent mash, and a sticky toffee sundae worth the wait. Staff are attentive and happily adjust dishes for intolerances. Two honest notes: it's pricey — around £40 a head for three courses — and Sundays book out well ahead.
