The food is straightforward pub cooking done well: around £10 for a meal and a drink, hot and fresh even when it's heaving, though one family waited 40 minutes on a busy afternoon while delivery orders were prioritised. Katsu-topped fries get a thumbs up; pies can sell out surprisingly early in the day. Staff are the real draw — chatty, patient and happy to sort things out when a booking goes astray. Be warned it's a match-day pub, so it gets loud and drink-focused around Newcastle home games, and the toilets have had complaints.
