The Ivy Asia Brighton
A dazzling, occasion-worthy Asian dining room with high chairs and a kids' menu — book ahead, and note dishes can't be adapted for allergies.

Booking matters here — it fills up fast, and on a busy Saturday the noise climbs to the point where a tired toddler may struggle. That said, the ground-floor room is handsome and roomy enough to get a pram through, there are high chairs and a kids' menu, and outdoor seating if you'd rather be somewhere the children can be louder. Food arrives quickly, which counts for a lot mid-meltdown, and the staff are notably unflappable — one family had a birthday cake dropped before it reached the table and were sent pastries and extra wine by way of apology. The chicken skewers and fish cake from the 1917 menu are worth ordering, the hoisin duck salad with watermelon is a favourite, and there are vegan options. It's £££, and separate ladies' and gents' toilets are well kept.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
