Worth knowing before you set off: the car park is genuinely huge, free, and there's overflow parking too, so a Sunday-lunch scramble for a space isn't part of the deal. Inside it's a proper old building — wooden beams, a cherry blossom tree you pass on the stairs, blossom across the ceilings — and the upstairs restaurant is roomy and well spaced, which helps with a pram and a wriggler. Staff are warm and quick to spot what you need; one table shared a katsu chicken starter and had side plates brought over unasked. Pizzas come enormous with plenty of toppings, and boxing up leftovers is no bother. Yaki udon and the hanging skewers get a lot of love. It fills up in the evenings and at weekends, so come early into lunch service if you want it calm.
