A proper old-fashioned Sheffield local that's been smartened up without losing what it was — bright, warm and clean inside, with a car park out front and an outdoor area that's lovely in the sun, though it could do with a bit of upkeep. The welcome is genuinely friendly, and children are treated as normal customers rather than a problem; there are high chairs and a kids' menu, and food arrives hot without a long wait. Pies get the most praise, along with fish and chips with huge chunky chips, and a cheeseburger with decent portions for the money. Prices are fair, the beer selection is good, and dogs are welcome too. One parent calls it "a proper pub, great for kids". Handy for a sit-down after the Rivelin Valley Trail.
