A gastropub sitting in open countryside just outside Redditch, with plenty of parking at the front and around the back — handy when you're unloading a buggy and a bag of snacks. The kids' menu, high chairs and step-free access cover the basics, and there's a patio and garden for when everyone needs to spill outside. The kitchen punches well above usual pub standard: roasts come out tasty and plentiful, the pork belly starter gets singled out, the chocolate fudge cake is worth saving room for, and there's an unusually wide range of non-meat dishes. Portions are generous, staff are cheerful and helpful. It's not the cheapest option in town and Sundays get packed, so ring ahead — one family called ahead on a busy Father's Day and still got a table. In winter, ask for the log burner.
