Gabriele's
Lively Italian in Sunderland with a kids' menu, high chairs, step-free buggy access and gluten-free options; booking recommended.

Café · Sunderland
Perched above Seaburn seafront, this small family-run coffee house is the kind of stop that turns a windy prom walk into a proper morning out. The view does a lot of the work — Whitburn Bay to the north, Roker Pier and the harbour to the south, sometimes dolphins — and it keeps children occupied while you finish a hot drink. Buggy access and outdoor seating make the arrival easy, with high chairs and a kids' menu inside, and the family who run it are unfailingly warm; regulars say pulling tables together for a bigger group is "never an issue". Homemade cakes and scones are the draw, along with bacon sandwiches people rave about, and prices stay reasonable. It's small, so a busy weekend can mean waiting for a table.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
