Sitting right by the marina, this is the kind of place where you can park free, wheel a buggy in, and still get a table on a busy weekday — people arrive to a queue for the outdoor seats and are usually seated straight away anyway. Food comes out fast, which matters when someone's hungry and losing patience: the Full Scottish, the Stornoway black pudding hash, the ox cheek burger and the French toast all get singled out, portions are generous, and there's a proper cake counter plus vegan choices and a kids' menu. High chairs are there, and nobody's rushed out. One honest snag — the inside seating gets stuffy with little airflow when it's bustling, so on a warm day aim for the outdoor tables with the harbour view. Dog bowls out front, too.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
