Set beside the Morrisons on the edge of town, this is a roomy, spacious pub with proper room between tables for a pram, and the sort of unhurried welcome that makes arriving with children easy — you're greeted at the door, seated, and looked after without fuss. The team are patient with questions and careful about allergies, and food comes out fast and properly hot, which matters when someone is hungry now. Portions are generous: the brunch burger, fish and chips with mushy peas, tomato soup made on site with warm bread, and sticky toffee pudding all get praised. Outside there's seating with long views over the hills. High chairs, a kids' menu and free parking are all sorted. Not perfect — the calamari can disappoint, occasional online menu items turn out to be off, and some find it pricey for what it is.
