Flanagan's Apple
Friendly Liverpool pub with kids' menu, high chairs and quick, fairly priced lunches — the big breakfast and steak Philly baguettes are the picks.

Pub · Liverpool
Right in the thick of Mathew Street opposite the Cavern, this is a proper old-school Liverpool pub — dark wood, loads of character, and a crowd that spills in from the street. It's a drinks-first place rather than a dinner destination, but there's a kids' menu and high chairs, and drinks are genuinely well priced for the city centre (wine has been £10 a bottle before 6pm). Service is quick even when it's busy. The big caveat for families: karaoke runs most nights and the room gets loud and packed, so it's a lunchtime or early-afternoon stop with children, not an evening one. The toilets are tired. Staff are mostly warm — one family posted a lost jacket back to them — though a few have found the bar staff sharp at peak times.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.

Beatles statues, roomy tables and afternoon live music make this a fun daytime stop, though evenings turn loud and firmly grown-up.
