The Dover Castle
Step-free Brighton pub with high chairs, a kids' menu and outdoor seating — lively enough that noise won't matter.

Pub · Brighton
A proper old-school Brighton pub that turns out to be easier with children than it looks — buggy access, high chairs and a kids' menu are all sorted, and the staff are warm and attentive with families. The bangers and mash gets the loudest praise: Cumberland sausages, mustard-and-dill mash and a proper meat gravy that people describe as some of the tastiest they've had. Portions on the weekday menu are generous and the beer selection is good. Two honest caveats, though. It gets genuinely loud, which suits a chatty toddler but not a nap. And the Sunday roast divides people — waits of up to an hour with little warning, and at around £23 some feel short-changed on veg and potatoes. One parent called the atmosphere "lovely" while rating the roast middling. Come midweek, order the bangers.
