Restaurant · Whitby
Set in a castle just outside Whitby, this is a proper occasion place that still works with children in tow — high chairs, a kids' menu, free parking on site and level access through the grounds if you've a pram. The building and lit grounds are half the draw; children tend to be entertained by the carvings and sculptures before food even arrives. Sunday lunch is the standout: roast beef from cattle grazing the grounds, a huge Yorkshire, and a chestnut roast for vegetarians that's clearly been thought about rather than tacked on. Portions are generous — one family found the fish goujons big enough to skip the fish and chips entirely. Staff are attentive and quick. It's smarter than everyday, so it does feel like a night out, and it's popular enough that you should book ahead.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
