Restaurant · Ipswich
Reopened in January under a new owner who also heads the kitchen, this Ipswich pub-restaurant has clearly found its feet, and it works well with children in tow. Buggy access is straightforward, there are high chairs and a kids' menu, plus free parking, so arriving isn't a battle. The staff strike the balance parents want — attentive but relaxed, with food arriving at the right pace rather than in one overwhelming rush. The Giles Bar has a wood-burning stove that makes winter afternoons genuinely cosy, and the outdoor seating has heat lamps for milder days. Cooking runs from pub classics to proper fine dining: the beef short rib, steak frites and crab agnolotti all draw praise, portions are generous, and the Basque cheesecake is worth saving room for. It is on the pricey side, and vegan options are available. Dogs are welcome too.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
