There's a genuine day-out feel to this one — a manor house setting with big grounds you can walk off lunch in, complete with bee hives and geese to point out, and views across the countryside. Sunday roasts are the draw: slow-roasted pork belly with proper crackling, Yorkshires, garlic and rosemary potatoes, generous portions throughout. One family found food arrived quickly with children in tow, and the kids' menu holds up — fresh fish and chips, not greasy or over-battered. High chairs, buggy access and free parking all sorted, plus outdoor seating when the weather plays along. The dining rooms are modern but cosy, staff friendly and attentive, and coffee and cake are served through the day. Not everything's flawless — the occasional muddled order or overcooked breakfast item — and the roast beef won't beat every Cotswold rival, but the setting more than makes up for it.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
