Cafés · Settle
Set inside a Grade I listed 17th-century building in the middle of Settle, this is the kind of place where the surroundings do half the work — thick old walls, a log fire going in colder months, and a secret garden out the back that's a godsend when children need somewhere to move about. Buggy access, high chairs and a kids' menu are all sorted, and the staff are friendly and unhurried. The scones come in for the most praise — fresh, generous — alongside homemade soups, brie and cranberry sandwiches and properly made coffee. There's an unusually good gluten-free selection and vegan options too. Prices are fair: around £13 for two coffees and two cakes. It's popular and can fill up, and the cake counter leans traditional rather than towering sponges. Dogs welcome. One family called it "a gem of a find".
