Perched on Amble harbour with views out over the water, this is a fish-and-chips spot that manages to feel like an occasion without being stuffy. The little private "shacks" are the draw — cosy without being cramped, and worth booking ahead because they go fast. Fresh North Sea haddock, proper homemade tartare sauce and the Atlantic prawns get the most praise, and the seafood platter, though billed for two, has stretched to four in practice. Staff are welcoming and quick to seat people, which helps when small legs are restless. There's a kids' menu, high chairs, outdoor seating, buggy access and free parking. Be warned it isn't cheap and prices have climbed — one family topped £50 for two fish suppers — and there's a 10% service charge you'll need to ask to remove.
