Tucked into Helmsley, this is the kind of café where breakfast runs all day, which matters enormously when a toddler sleeps through the morning. The room is calm — soft music, books and games on the shelves, a small menu where everything is done properly. Food comes out quickly and beautifully presented, so there's less melting down at the table. The full English draws real devotion, including a gluten-free bread version, and the pancakes are worth the trip; cakes and desserts are made in-house, with the carrot cake pleasingly not too sweet. Flat whites are excellent. Staff are warm and genuinely accommodating with dietary needs. High chairs, a kids' menu, buggy access and free parking all help, and the outdoor tables are, as regulars put it, "an absolute sun trap". It's air conditioned too. Dogs welcome.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
