Small, unassuming spot near the museum that turns out to be much more than the frontage suggests — several parents describe walking in unconvinced and leaving delighted. It's a café-restaurant at heart, with a retro wall of album covers to keep small eyes busy, high chairs, a kids' menu, buggy access and free parking, plus outdoor tables when the weather plays along. Portions are generous and prices genuinely kind: ham, egg and chips with proper thick ham comes in around £11, and the Sunday roast and veggie breakfast both get a lot of love. Vegan and vegetarian choices are a given. Worth knowing that food is cooked fresh to order, so with a big group or at busy times the wait can stretch — drinks arrive quickly, and staff tend to warn you up front.
