Tucked in a barn beside the farm shop at Wheatacre Hall Farm, this is a genuinely easy stop with a pushchair — free parking outside, plenty of room to get in, and countryside views from the tables. Breakfast is the thing people come back for: generous full English with sausage and black pudding singled out again and again, cooked properly, and the large farmhouse version defeats most adults. Milkshakes are made with milk from the farm, and cake travels home well. Staff are friendly and attentive without hovering, and there's a kids' menu, high chairs and outdoor seating. Two honest notes: the barn echoes, so it's noisy when full, and service can slow right down at busy times. It's worth going early — one visitor's parting advice was "just don't take all the seats".

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
