Coach & Horses
An easygoing Newcastle pub with outdoor seating and a solid 4.2 rating — an easy pick for a relaxed family meal.

Pub · Newcastle upon Tyne
Tucked next to a Travelodge on the Gosforth edge of the city, this is roomier inside than you'd guess from the outside — you walk through a well-kept beer garden to get in, which doubles as somewhere to sit when the weather holds. There's space to park a buggy without blocking anyone, high chairs and a kids' menu, free parking, and staff who are attentive without hovering. Sunday roasts get the most praise: generous plates, hot gravy, meat and veg done properly. The calamari and the beef shin come up often too, and portions are filling enough that little ones can share. Worth knowing: it fills up at weekends and food can take a while when it's busy, and the odd plate has arrived lukewarm. Book ahead, and dogs are welcome — one family found plenty of room beside their table for two greyhounds.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
