Tucked into a country village near the Mole resort, this is the kind of pub where the staff once offered to hold a three-month-old so a mum could eat her dinner in peace — and where a resident dog does the rounds under the tables. It's a small, busy local, so booking matters; walk-ins do get squeezed in, but tables fill fast on weekend evenings. Food comes out quickly and hot, which helps when someone's losing patience: locally sourced meat, juicy burgers, pizza, a Sunday roast people rave about, generous portions and proper desserts. Vegan, veggie, gluten-free and dairy-free are all catered for. High chairs, a kids' menu, buggy access, outdoor seating and free parking are all there, plus a wood-burning fire and picture-covered walls. One family called it "home from home".
