A proper back-street local rather than anywhere polished — a bit of a blast from the past, which in practice means space to park the pram without anyone tutting and a genuinely lovely outdoor area where children can spread out on a decent day. The pizzas are the thing to order: simple, well made, and fairly priced, with the Bad Boy and the sausage and onion getting particular praise, plus good garlic bread and a vegan cheese option. High chairs, a kids' menu and free parking all help. Staff are friendly, though drinks service can be slow at the bar, so order before anyone hits the wilting stage. Quiet late afternoon, around four or five, which is the sweet spot with children. Christmas is spectacular but heaving — one visitor felt "like a sardine in a can" — so book. Loos are tired.
