Restaurant · Saint Austell
Part of a lodge estate just outside town, this one sits in an old house with a slightly safari-ish, cosy feel — clean, roomy and calm rather than cramped, so a pram isn't a problem. Booking is worth doing, especially if you want a garden-view table, as the good ones go early. There's a kids' menu, high chairs and outdoor seating, and the staff are consistently courteous and patient. Portions are generous and the cooking is genuinely good: the barbecue pulled pork pizza and the oxtail hash brown both get raved about, and breakfast is a real highlight — properly cooked, good local produce. Two honest caveats: it isn't cheap (three courses with drinks runs around £50 a head), and one or two families have found it merely pub-standard on an off day.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
