Right in central Brighton, this is a proper old-school local — cosy layout, warm welcome, and a courtyard beer garden that comes into its own in summer. It's a drinking pub rather than a food stop: there's no kitchen, though you can order food in, and there's a kids' menu, high chairs and buggy access if you're bringing little ones along in the daytime. The team are genuinely kind and go out of their way for people, and one regular brings their whole family, including two young children, without a second thought. There's a pool table, two dartboards, karaoke and an upstairs function room, plus a resident pub dog who'll happily have a ball thrown for him. Worth knowing: it's small, gets busy and loud on big football days, and a pint runs a little pricey.
