Just outside the town centre, this bistro looks small and neat when you walk in — then you find the walled garden out the back, all mature apple and plum trees, a barbecue area and robins hopping about, which is a genuinely lovely spot to park a pram and let coffee happen slowly on a warm day. Breakfast is what people come back for: the small fry gets praised over and over as filling, fresh and not greasy, and the chips and the foot-long hotdog have their own fans. Food arrives quickly, which matters when someone's patience is thin. Staff are cheerful and attentive, prices are fair, and there's a kids' menu, high chairs, buggy access and free parking. Inside is bright and clean but compact, so the garden is your friend with a buggy.
