Café · Exeter
Tucked away in Heavitree with a courtyard garden out the back, this is the sort of local café that does the simple things properly. Breakfast is the main event — the big breakfast baps have a following, bacon comes out crisp, sausages are a cut above, and the eggs are cooked the way you'd hope. Everything tastes fresh and mostly local, and it's fairly priced for what lands on the plate. The team are warm and flexible; ask for something off-menu and they'll usually make it. High chairs, a kids' menu, buggy access, vegan options and free parking make the logistics painless, and the garden is genuinely lovely on a sunny day. One quiet caveat: service can occasionally be slow to notice you at the door, so catch someone's eye. Dogs are welcome too, sausage included.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
