Hilly's Tea Shop
A warmly-rated Guildford tea house serving proper pots of tea and cake — a cosy, mid-range spot for a family afternoon treat.

Cafés · Guildford
Tucked next to the stream in Shere, this is the kind of café that works whether you've arrived by pram, on bikes, or at the end of a long walk with a tired child in tow. Inside is cosy and small, so the large garden yurt and shaded outdoor tables are where families tend to land — more room to spread out, and dogs are welcome too. Portions are generous and the cake slices genuinely big; the duck breakfast, eggs Royale and the gammon sandwich on sun-dried tomato bread all get real praise, and the coffee is properly good. Service is quick and organised, which matters when someone's hungry. High chairs, a kids' menu, vegan options and free parking are all sorted. Worth ringing ahead at weekends — one visitor found the staff happy to take a booking over the phone.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
