Café · Newton Abbot
Tucked near the clocktower at the western end of town on a pedestrianised street, so there's no traffic to worry about while you park the pram and let everyone settle. Order at the till and food gets carried over — it comes out hot and fast, which matters when someone's hungry and wobbling. The team stay unflustered even at peak lunchtime, and dietary needs are handled properly: gluten-free and vegan diners each get a full menu rather than one sad option. The broccoli and stilton quiche, the homity pie and the big cooked breakfast (free coffee with a large one before 11am) all get raves. Fair warning: it's dog friendly, so expect pets around, the toilets are dated if clean, and the menu leans traditional — hot chocolate is dark, not the sweet kind small children hope for.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
