Under new management and clearly finding its feet, this Winchcombe-road Cotswold pub has the two things that matter most when you arrive with children in tow: space and patience. The bar area is bigger than most restaurants, so a pram isn't a problem, and there's a proper garden plus a decent-sized free car park — no circling the block with a toddler in the back. Food comes out quickly and warmly: the lamb kofta with warm flatbread, fries and homemade coleslaw gets particular praise, as do the burger and veggie kebabs, both good value. High chairs and a kids' menu are sorted. Worth knowing: the menu is on the short side and the pasta has disappointed, and live music nights mean it can get lively. One family called it "a proper local pub with a lovely community feel".
