Welsh Restaurant · Colwyn Bay
A quiet spot tucked away from the seafront, this is a proper old-school tea room — warm, unfussy and calm rather than buzzy, which makes it easy going with children in tow. The breakfast is what people come back for, cooked fresh and served on piping hot plates, with the black pudding singled out again and again; the roast lamb comes with plenty of meat and fresh veg, and the steak and kidney pie is stuffed full. Puddings are the old favourites — sticky toffee, apple pie, rhubarb and custard. There's a kids' menu and high chairs, and the team are friendly and welcoming even to late arrivals. Two honest notes: the room is small and skews towards an older, quieter crowd, and it's popular enough that booking ahead is wise, especially for Sunday lunch. Dogs are welcome too.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
