About The Coddy Shack

A short walk from the harbour with a big free car park, this is an easy one to land with children in tow — buggy access is straightforward, there are high chairs and a kids' menu, and outdoor seating for when the noise inside builds. Booking matters: it fills up, and later in the evening some things sell out. The fish and chips is the draw, light, crisp batter and chips people talk about as much as the fish, but the chowder is the sleeper hit, packed with fish, mussels, sweetcorn and Cornish new potatoes. Portions are generous enough that plenty leave food, so consider sharing with smaller ones. Service is quick and attentive without hovering, which counts when someone's hungry. Save room for the lemon meringue with clotted cream, one visitor called it "huge and delicious". Takeaway too.
