Cafés · Holmfirth
Set in a converted mill building with a car and motorcycle museum attached, this is one of those stops where children who normally fidget through lunch are genuinely occupied — vintage cars and bikes in the showroom, classic signs and model cars lining the walls, even along the corridor to the toilets. The dining area is large and roomy, so prams aren't a problem, and there's a big car park with easy level access and no charge. Staff are polite and quick, portions arrive fast, and nobody is hurried out at closing. The eggs Benedict and ploughman's get particular praise, and the cakes are the real draw — the coffee and walnut especially. Prices are reasonable, high chairs and a kids' menu are there, plus outdoor seating. It fills up at weekends, so go earlier if you want calm.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
