The Spinnaker Café
A quiet, low-cost Portsmouth café with high chairs, a kids' menu, outdoor seating and vegan or gluten-free options.

Café · Portsmouth
Tucked into old Portsmouth behind thick historic walls, this is a coffee-and-bakery stop where the sea does half the work — there's a small decked terrace looking out over the harbour mouth, and window seats where children can watch the boats come and go. Come early: it's busy by 9:30 and the good tables go first, so a queue at weekends isn't unusual. Buggy access, high chairs and a kids' menu are all sorted, and the team are warm with families — babyccinos arrive alongside the hot chocolates without a fuss. Brunch is the strong suit: generous eggs benedict with sides, crunchy-then-soft waffles with fresh fruit, an enormous sausage roll, soup with bread and cheese toasties. Dogs welcome too. One off-day breakfast aside, most families leave saying "totally worth the queue".

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
