It's an old-fashioned, silver-service sort of place just outside Marlow, family-run for over twenty years, and the pull for children is the dessert trolley wheeled table to table: home-made gâteaux, lemon meringue, tiramisu that regulars single out. Staff are attentive and genuinely polite, high chairs and a kids' menu are there, and free parking plus buggy access take the stress out of arriving. Outdoor seating helps if you need an escape route. Be warned it's not cheap — around £50 a head à la carte, with portions people call decent rather than generous — so the three-course set menu is the better-value bet.
