The garden is genuinely lovely in good weather, and if you'd rather be inside, the conservatory looks straight out over it — worth asking for on a grey day with a restless toddler. Food is the real draw: the fish and chips with homemade tartar and curry sauce gets rhapsodised about, and the Sunday roast — juicy chicken, properly crisp potatoes — is the sort people drive out for. Portions are generous, service quick and unflappable even when it's heaving. It does get packed, so book if you can.
