Gastropub · Stirling
Nine minutes from Stirling Castle, this is the sort of pub where the fireplace and folk-historical decor do half the work of keeping small people happy — warm, roomy, with buggy access, high chairs and a kids' menu, plus outdoor seating and views worth pointing out from the table. Food comes out fast even on a busy Saturday lunch, which matters when someone's patience is thin, and the staff are friendly and quick with the bill too. The beef in ale is the standout — genuinely melting, under a proper pie lid — and the fillet steak sandwich, fish and chips and pulled pork tacos all get praise, with portions generous for the price. Two honest snags: skip the bruschetta caprese, and parking, though free, fills up completely on Sundays. Worth booking; walk-ins may only get an hour.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
