Set on a working farm just outside Bath, this is the rare lunch stop where restless children are an asset rather than a problem — you can wander out between courses to see the cows, hens, ducks and horses, and there's a viewing platform where the milking happens. Parking is free, buggies get in easily, and there are high chairs, a kids' menu and plenty of outdoor tables, including little huts if the weather turns. Food is generous and properly made: the cheese toastie with fig, silky mac and cheese, the five-cheese Park Farm platter, broccoli and blue cheese soup, and a salted caramel milkshake made with Marshfield ice cream that one visitor rated the finest they'd had. Staff are warm about moving you outside or explaining how the cheese is made. Bring cash for the shop — the chutneys and sourdough are hard to resist.

A little something creative for your next meal out. Filled with colouring, simple drawing prompts for cute animals, origami and conversation starters designed to bring more play, laughter and connection to the table. 3 free printable packs for toddlers, preschoolers and primary-aged children.
